Eating a banana is not much of what we think of. We just grab a banana, peel it, and open our mouth and eat it like the picture!
But,
when it comes to the woman I take care of (I call her Lynn here), it's
totally different. Six month ago, I was almost forcing her to eat a tiny
bit of banana on a spoon... sad, but true...About 4 months ago, she
started eating a slice of banana on a spoon with kind of willing. About 2
months ago, she voluntary opened her mouth to eat a slice of banana on a
spoon.
Today, I just got strong feeling that she can eat banana
like we do if I just hold on to the banana. Then, if she couldn't, I
could just go back to regular way to feed her a banana.
Guess,
what! She starts eating a banana like we do! She opened her mouth big
enough so that whole diameter of banana was able to fit! So, exciting!!!
I
was telling Lynn how excited I am! How thankful I am! I don't know if
she understood what I said but I could tell for sure our heart/ spirit
communicated enough I felt joy we shared! I was so happy that I was even
telling her "that's the way to eat a banana with style!" Ha ha ha...
Most
people around her are still unbelief that she would ever get any
better. But, her recovery is REAL. I get to she her recovery because I
am the one who spend most of tome with her. Now, I am getting positive
support from her husband who starts seeing her recovery!
Once upon a time, someone said something like...
"Success
is a moving target," and "Success of Roma was not done in a day." I
think it goes to the same way to the recovery process. Small steps all
add up!!!
Faith + Work = Miracle
